It Girl Crochet lists Sharon Zientara as the author, but in reality this book features 23 fantastic crochet patterns from 16 different designers - Sharon included! There's amazing work in there from the likes of Robin Chacula, Linda Skuja, Brenda K. B. Anderson, Kathy Merrick, Annette Petavy, and more!
The patterns are all for "must-have accessories," and they're broken up into 3 eras: Crochet Nouveau, It's a Mod Mod World, and A Brave New Boho. But while these might sound retro or vintage, they all manage to capture the spirit of days gone by while maintaining a very modern sensibility. And I love that each pattern contains a little blurb about it's inspiration!
Many of the patterns in It Girl Crochet use thinner yarns - lace weight to DK - and have the drape and lovely look to match. I want to make them all! And with charts to go with the written instructions, even the most complicated projects look very doable. And if you do run into trouble, they've got the errata posted here.
One pattern I did get a chance to start on was the Shawl Vigne, by Natasha Robarge. It calls for laceweight yarn, and is light and lovely! But with winter coming, I wanted something a little warmer, so I am using Crystal Palace Yarns Merino 5, which is a 100% superwash merino wool in worsted weight. The stitch pattern is fun and interesting, and the chart makes it easy. I can't wait to cozy up in it!
With the holidays on the way, It Girl Crochet is the perfect pick. Not only does it make a great gift for those who enjoy crocheting accessories, but it's also full of patterns that would make great gifts for others! And it's available at the following links:
