Hard Habit to Break

Something has come to my attention today.

I have at least one odd habit.

I know what you are saying.  How can our perfect Lady of the Blog do anything that is not in and of itself perfection?  That is what you are saying, right?

Well, it all started in college.  I was riding around with my new best friend Mimi.  Mimi was worldly.  Mimi had been…around.  Mimi was first generation American, and had all these interesting ideas.  Mimi said that if I touched the visor every time I went through a yellow light, it would add a day to my sex life.

Being an impressionable youth, I thought this a grand idea.  And why not?  So I started.  I would be driving or riding in a car and we’d start to pass under a yellow light, and I’d think HEY! and immediately tap the visor in front of me.

This led to some awkward situations.  Like explaining to my mother what all this tapping was about.  I believe I told her it was for good luck.  Thankfully she did not pick up the habit herself - I would’ve been mortified.  And given the already large family I come from, may have risked  another sibling.

Over the years, after *ahem* getting married and having kids and putting aside the things of my youth, like using the bathroom alone and sleeping through the night, I thought no more of my little habit.  Except apparently, I never actually stopped.

So on this, the eve of my 32nd birthday, The Producer was compelled to bring it up.   “You know, young lady,” he began, “you are almost 32 years old.  Don’t you think it’s about time you stopped doing that?”  And I had no. idea. what he was talking about.   Or who he was talking to, for a minute there.

Well then.  Time to break the habit.  But don’t blame me if things start to slow down, old man.

FREEBIE OF THE DAY: One habit I like to indulge on occasion is drinking wine.  I’m not familiar with Redwood Creek yet, but they are giving away some great free vintage ad prints -perfect for the outdoorsman or ad art lover.

So there’s an added benefit to doing that, eh? Here’s the thing though, sis…while most of your sibs probably picked it up inadvertently from you and passed it down..I know other people who do it and say its for good luck - specifically that you don’t get pulled over for running a yellow light.

Then considering you taught me to do this YEARS before I was old enough to drive…..
