The Hard Candy Baby Blanket is fun, bright, easy to crochet, and a super soft extra cozy treat for any little girl or boy! And it's a free crochet pattern here on Moogly!

The Hard Candy Baby Blanket looks like a pretty swirly wrapped candy, and I made the whole blanket with just one ball of Lion Brand's Ice Cream Big Scoop! This is a big gorgeous 10oz ball of yarn, so if you can't find the Big Scoop version then I've included the standard skein amounts below. The yarn is self-striping, and a little bit variegated, and comes in a bunch of delicious colors (or flavors!) - I can't wait to see how all of yours turn out!

Great videos. I've learned to successfully do a magic ring from your videos. It's nice to see I'm not closing up my ring the "wrong" way.

😀 Thank you so much!

Just a question, is there another kind of yarn we can use, I don't think we have this yarn in British Columbia, I will check next time I am at Micheals cause I can't always find some of the yarn you use to make things
Tamara Kelly
You can always click on the name of the yarn here on Moogly to go to the Lion Brand page where you can order it! But I've also included all the weight and yardage info above so you can find a substitute. A good one to look for here would be Lion Brand Baby Soft or you can use a yarn like Vanna's Choice and just leave off the last couple rounds. 🙂

I order a big ball of it yesterday!! I believe I got the mint!!

I love the look of this! Thanks! Is it correct that the fpdc are always on top of each other? My ridges are coming out in straight lines instead of the neat curved effect you achieve.
Tamara Kelly
Thank you Loyal Dinosaur! 😀 Yes, the fpdc sts are right on top of each other. The curve shows up a bit later in the pattern due to the increases. 🙂

My 1st 7 rows are curling is the normal? Will more weight as I go help to flatten it?
Tamara Kelly
Hi Kimberly! A little bit of "lift" at the edges is normal and it flattened out as I went, but if it's really pronounced, you might want to bump up a hook size and see if that makes a difference.
Kimberly
Thank you I thought I was doing something wrong. It does curl but not drastic
Tamara Kelly
No, it's the post stitches - they pull down on the surrounding stitches just a bit. You can try giving a little extra pull upwards on the loops of the post stitches too - that will help make them taller so they don't pull inward. 🙂
