Like most crafty people, I like to craft in multiple ways... and one of my favorites is needle felting! When I met the ladies from Going Gnome, I fell in love with their adorable needle felting kits immediately. They gave me one to review, and I finally got the chance to sit down with it last week. Here is my review of Going Gnome needle felting kits!
First thought - squee!! The kits at Going Gnome are the cutest. The Going Gnome shop is located in Housatonic, Massachusetts, and they sell all sorts of fantastic needle felting kits, supplies, and "Gnomes to Go." It sounds so dreamy! Luckily for the rest of us, they are also online - CLICK HERE to check out their shop! I love what they say on their About page: "Going Gnome, the combination of the natural world and fantasy, was the next logical step in our growing enterprise. We both enjoy the whimsical quality of the kits we make, and they keep selling! People keep sending us pictures of their creations, what a feeling, to share something we feel passionately about with others." Love that attitude!
You just want to reach out and squeeze them! And make them of course. If you haven't needle felted before, it's easier than you think. I took a class on needle felting a couple years ago, and was amazed how easy it was! Like... shocked!
It's literally two steps: roll your wool, tight as you can, into something close to the shape you want... then poke at it with the felting needle until it stays the shape you want. Voila! I know, when I first got interested in needle felting, I thought there HAS to be more to it too. Nope. That's it. Just keep poking and pinching and playing until you get the look you want! Wanna stick two pieces together? Put one on top of the other and start poking!
Needle felting is fun, creative, and frankly... great for getting out all the "stabbies!" (We all have those days, right?) And the kits from Going Gnome have everything you need to get started - the needles, the wool, and the instructions! The only other item I'd recommend to start out with needle felting is some sort of pad to hold the work against as you poke at it - and a folded towel should work just fine (then, if you find you like needle felting and want to do more, you can get a needle felting pad just for the purpose).
So what did I make? I got to make the Rock Monster! Inside the kit I found the instructions, the wool, and 2 needles:
I made the Rock Monster in just one evening, and it was so much fun! Each needle felted creation is unique, and here's how my guy turned out:
It's so easy to customize your creations with needle felting, and this kit from Going Gnome had more than enough wool to give my Rock Monster his own unique look!
So, gnomes, mushroom houses, rock monsters, foxes, hedgehogs, owls, Santas... are you ready to settle in for a lovely evening of stress relief crafting? I can't wait to make another project myself - I keep eyeing all my leftover bits to ponder new tiny creatures! If you'd like to try a Going Gnome needle felting kit, then click on GOING GNOME - and be sure to use the code moogly for FREE shipping, all through February 2017! I don't know if free shipping applies outside the US anyway (maybe a discount??), but I can't find anywhere to enter a code except on the payment page which doesn't accept Moogly as an option,
Any clues?
I love needle felting ❤️ like cross stitch, it's proof that stabbing something thousands of times can really make you feel better!

I'm sorry I missed your comment before! After you hit the yellow checkout button, there's a place on the right to enter the code. When I typed in moogly (lowercase) it gave me free shipping.

When I tried to do it via paypal it just told me it was invalid. I tried the non-paypal checkout tonight, and finally got a message saying I didn't qualify - I assume because I'm outside the US! But at least I know now. For some reason, the paypal checkout just said it was invalid without telling me that it was my order that was the issue, not the code!
I figured there was a reasonable chance it wouldn't apply to non-US postal addresses, but it didn't actually tell me that till today.
