Long, long ago, in an internet far away, I had a mommy blog. And while I love being a mom, that’s no longer what this is about. It’s about craft! Knitting, crocheting, and whatever else catches my eye.
I do it for fun, I do it for money, and I’ll do it for you, if you want me too.
But to kick this thing off, let me share my most recent FO (that’s Finished Object, for those new to the lingo). One of the things I love about crafting is using my talents to help others. I’ve made things for school auction, for those who’ve experienced personal loses, and now, I’ve made this:
According to Ravelry, over 3600 of these hats have been made! The free pattern for this hat is featured in Knitty, Winter 2008. The designer has given her permission to use this pattern to make hats for charity.
So when I was asked to make something for the Bumping for Blake’s Cancer Camp raffle and silent auction, I knew exactly what I wanted to make! It’s a fantastic charity, which raises money for Children’s Cancer Connection, an organization based here in Iowa. Their mission is to “to enhance the quality of life for children and families affected by childhood cancer by providing programs for education, recreation and support.”
It’s a free, fun pattern to make – my kids are all requesting their own – and it’s for a great cause. Here’s hoping it helps!
And welcome to moogly!
