Bargain Bin

The neighbors across the street had a garage sale today. Which is pretty damn impressive, given that their baby is only one week older than Bon Bon, who himself is just over 2 months old. I’m happy that I’ve managed to catch up with the laundry and get the dishes done most days. Organizing a large scale sale and getting it advertised in the paper? A tad too ambitious for me, thanks.
Shopping at garage sales however - I can always manage that. And I’m afraid I’ve created a garage sale addict in my own image when it comes to Queenie. You haven’t seen her so excited since the ice cream truck actually stopped in front of her own house in the whole wide world!!! She started in begging to go over there at 7am. I managed to hold her off until about 9am.
Unfortunately, we have been broke as joke for the past few weeks. So I scrounged up our last four dollars in change and headed over, Bon Bon in the sling, Boy-o toddling along holding my left hand, and Queenie dancing around like a jack in the box on crack. Ah, the joys of other’s cast offs! The sheer possibilities!
Well, all her fantasies of consumerism may not have quite come true, but all told she spent our four bucks well. She got a lovely purse-shaped nightlight for her room…ok, it’s super gaudy with marabou trim on top, but it’s just right for her. She also managed to pick out a copy of Ramona the Pestby Beverly Cleary. And best of all, for this rock star in training of mine, we got something so special…so exciting…
