A Handful of Love

Late last week, Queenie and Boy-o both developed little coughs. As it is January I thought little of it, beyond the usual “oh crap” that accompanies any hint of seasonal illness. Life continued apace.
On Sunday we spent a relaxed evening with friends, in their new-to them home, surrounded by screaming, running, laughing children. Queenie’s cough was getting worse the more she ran, so I asked her to slow it down. Then I noticed that Boy-o was coughing quite a bit. Quite a lot actually. Oh, and now he’s vomiting all over our friends’ couch and white carpeting (don’t blame them, it came with the house). I was sitting on said couch, with a sleeping Bon Bon in one arm, and my crocheting filling my lap. So I did what came naturally, what my parents did for me, and their parents probably did for them - I stuck out my hand. And Boy-o quite kindly filled it. Twice. Did I mention we’d had chili dogs for dinner?
Cleaning up the boy, the carpet, and the couch took a bit of time and group effort, and I will always be grateful to my friends for that. However, I should’ve asked for some hand-bleach. What started as a little tickle in the throat Monday has expanded into my sinuses and brain. I am currently living on Emergen-C (did you sign up for the freebies I posted? I got mine this week!), Airborne, nasal irrigation fluid (for some reason I’m having trouble not swallowing it today. yummy.) , and Vicks coated Puffs plus lotion. How do you fight a head cold?
FREEBIE OF THE DAY: More free Airborne please!
