Featuring:

This stressed out mom and my crew of insane monkey-like creatures: Queenie, Boy-o, and Bon Bon. Oh, and sometimes their dad, The Producer.

    Alms for the poor?

Thankful! at the Home

Whew. Glad that’s over.

Boy-o still has aortic stenosis, mitral valve stenosis, mitral valve regurgitation, mitral valve deformity, and just a scosh of pulmonary edema.  But since he is so very insane active, and is growing and breathing and living just fine, we are, in all likelihood, safe for at least one more year. Thank you, thank you Dr Morriss and child life.

Thanks to an excellent book, the minimal demands of Bon Bon,  and fresh air on the rooftop lounge, the time passed pretty quickly. We were able to go home that evening, just in time for dinner with Queenie and The Costumer (my youngest sister, moonlighting as babysitter). The Producer and I put all three children to bed, sent The Costumer on her way, opened a very (very) cheap bottle of champagne, and watched a DVD from season two of The Office. Perfect.

Heard something…odd…on the hour’s drive home from the hospital though. And here I show how lame I am (and un-pc, as I insult the limb-challenged) - apparently this song has been out for months. But for those of you, mommies like me, who can’t watch MTV because the kids have squished just the right amount of peanut butter into the remote to stick the TV on hell noggin, but let’s be honest would watch VH1 anyway, not that either show videos anymore, here is what I heard. Now with video goodness. And you know, I think I like it. But it’s still weird.

Moving on…Boy-o’s 2nd birthday is September 4th, and after all this how could we not celebrate?  The invites went out the other day, and the RSVPs are trickling in.  We’ve had some compliments on the cool envelopes - they’re from old surplus topographical maps from the government.  They inspired The Sister, who used to work in a map store, to share this tip - use old outdated maps and atlas pages as gift wrap!  Thrifty, good for the environment, and it looks cool too. Are the kids still saying cool?  If there is a map store near you, ask for outdated maps, and you’ll be doing your wallet and the earth a favor.

FREEBIE OF THE DAY: Free Pro-Intact and Pro-Breastfeeding Bumper Stickers- Issues close to my heart. Not in a porny way. For once. (Thanks to my celtic friend for the link.)

MAKE IT GREEN: As long as you use what you order, you’re golden. No, not that kind of golden. Sheesh!
